Dog friendly weekend stay: Kims Beachside Retreat

I’m always hanging for another road trip – and better yet, when dog friendly stays are on the cards too. Just over an hour’s drive from Sydney’s CBD, you’ll find the beautiful Kims Beachside Retreat on the Central Coast, in the beachside town of Toowoon Bay. This accommodation caters for guests aged 12-years and over only, and is pet friendly. Yes, you read right a boutique beach resort, with suite or villa rooms, that only cater for adults… and allows pets. Can you believe it?! I certainly couldn’t at first. We don’t have children of our own and whilst I have no issues with them (quite a few of my friends have kids), it’s rare to find waterfront getaways that cater for just adults – and dogs can join too. On arrival, there are two main parking bays; the Terrace level car park is generally better parking (it was empty most times we left and returned), however you’re required to walk several steps down to reception and then on to your room. For anyone driving …

Family Fun And A Dog Friendly Getaway At Eden Farm Escape, Bilpin

Looking for your next relaxing weekender out of Sydney? Located just 1.5-hours drive from Sydney’s CBD in the small town of Bilpin, Eden Farm Escape is a beautiful, luxury farm stay, owned and managed by Eden Equine. Set on a 90-acre equine farm, this is one of the most unique, pet friendly accommodation stays that I’ve experienced.. and thoroughly enjoyed too mind you. The change in scenery hits you as soon as you arrive, that ‘ahh moment’ knowing you’re about to unwind from what was only a short road trip out of the big city. With your choice of five self-contained cabins, this is the perfect getaway for a couple, a family, or a group of friends to stay on a relatively quiet and peaceful acreage. The cabins are clustered near enough to each other and only walking distance apart, yet still offering privacy in between. And what I love even more about this stay, is that your dog is welcome too. Our accommodation was in the Charlie Cabin, a modern 2-bedroom property equipped with …

Dog Friendly Hotel Stay in Sydney: Ovolo Woolloomooloo

With an impromptu weekend getaway in town, what better way to indulge in a hotel stay that allows you to bring your furbaby too? In search for dog friendly accommodation in Sydney, I found Ovolo’s V.I.Pooch package at the Ovolo Woolloomooloo Boutique Hotel. Located on the wharf at Woolloomooloo, with both city and Sydney Harbour views throughout, expect your stay to be in a modern and luxurious, eclectic yet sophisticated, heritage-listed building, transformed to an artistic and funky hotel. It radiates plenty of personality, in a great waterfront location with a range of trendy restaurants at your doorstep. If you’re staying with a dog, I’d highly recommend booking the Deluxaroo King Room (or larger) because the extra space is definitely worthwhile. At 46m2, there’s plenty of room for you, your dog, a king-sized bed, a comfy doggy bed, a generous sized bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe too. In addition to the pooch bed, Ovolo’s dog friendly V.I.Pooch package also includes use of two dog bowls, bottled water and a ‘doggy bag’ inclusive of complimentary Billy …

A Visit to Sydney Zoo, Bungarribee

When Western Sydney’s newest zoo recently opened in Bungarribee Super Park, I booked myself some tickets online to see the attraction first-hand – and I must say, after visiting, I’m very pleased with the development thus far. Located less than a 10-minute drive from Blacktown, along the Great Western Highway in Bungarribee, Sydney Zoo exhibits more than 2,000 Australian and international animals from around the world, with more to still arrive and settle in. In comparison to Wild Life Sydney Zoo and Taronga Zoo, this new zoo offers a safari-like experience, with expansive footpaths and cleverly designed barriers to guise the surrounding animal enclosures. Parking was fairly straight forward, I arrived early morning to secure a spot right in front. There are over 1,000 car spaces available in the main parking area, with the added option of an alternate car park overflow just 2km away, offering shuttle services to and from the zoo. For those wanting to bring strollers, wheelchairs or electric mobility scooters, Sydney Zoo is easy to get around. The footpaths are wide …

Pet Friendly Stay At The Felix Hotel, Mascot near Sydney Airport

(Edit: Rebranded to Citadines Connect Sydney Airport, May 2019) As my husband was attending an evening engagement on the inner fringe of Sydney’s CBD, I thought I’d save him the late night drive home and also stay in town with our dog, Kenji. In search for pet friendly accommodation within close proximity to the city, I stumbled across The Felix Hotel, by 8Hotels. Less than a 15-minute walk to Mascot train station and just two train stops from Sydney’s Central Station (the main interchange for other trains, buses and light rail services), The Felix Hotel was what I was looking for. If you’re only staying in Sydney for a brief period, this hotel is quite affordable and is also a short 10-minute walk to the Sydney Domestic Airport. What I love about The Felix Hotel is that its location is somewhat central, its interiors are fairly new and the overall stay is quite unique. It features Sydney’s only hotel rooftop cinema, it’s close to both the Sydney Domestic Airport and Sydney city where you can …
