We met Kevin Huynh over a year ago. At the time, we had just purchased land and frequently visited all the different display home villages including Homeworld Kellyville – deciding on next steps to choose the right house and ultimately, the right builder.
The consultation experiences at the display home villages differed across Sydney. What struck a cord with us was as a potential buyer – considering to spend anywhere from $200,000+ – the level of engagement and enthusiasm was sporadic. Of course there must be days where people just visit these homes to dream, yet 9 times out of 10, the first series of questions are:
- Are you looking to build a new home?
- Have you secured land?
- Are you considering house and land?
- Where are you looking to build?
All in a monotone manner – or sometimes you were completely ignored too.
The first time we met Kevin, we had walked into Eden Brae’s sales office at Homeworld Kellyville around June/July last year. That day was spent inspecting different homes and builders, waiting for the jackpot moment knowing “this is the house we want to build”. We had deposited on land in May 2014 and registration would not occur until April/May 2015, so there was ample opportunity to take the time to decide what type of home we were looking for.
Strolling through the display homes, we were imagining any one of them could be ours. They were huge, bigger than any of the suburban homes I have ever lived in – only three in my lifetime thus far. Ideas were constantly running rampant of what was to come, all the bells and whistles with picture perfect exteriors…
Then the grinding halt. The display homes are inclusive of upgrades and optional extras. The decorative wall-paper, higher ceilings, luminescent lighting, bathroom and kitchen stone bench tops. All at an additional cost. We never saw a home on display at the base package price offering… well, we couldn’t find one, did you?
Kevin greeted us after our inspections of the Eden Brae display homes. It was nearing 4.30pm and we were surprised he was willing to chat despite soon finishing for the day. He invited us into his office space, talked through options available. He shared the price lists for their different homes and took the time to discuss. He knew we weren’t willing to deposit just yet, but did provide detailed information and offers available. At one point, we were discussing swimming pools and he began walking out the size in his office with his trusted measuring tape. I must say, Kevin had us at the tape strangely enough – he is going to be the guy to sell us our dream home!
Kevin listened to our questions and engaged with our ideas. He was different to the other consultants we experienced thus far. We were interested in the Cremorne and deciding between Eden Brae and a Masterton design as builders. Whether it’s a single storey, or grandeur palace, Kevin was all ears. He provided A3-sized photocopy floor plans for one of the houses we were interested in – alfresco and non-alfresco versions – to suit the size of our land. He took to his trusted green pen and ruler to mark out modification ideas we initially had. He was also quick off the mark with calculations and dimensions – the speedy gonzales of the office we would say – a bonus for my way of thinking. Listened to what we wanted including our expected budget, yet advised on what was actually possible.
You may think so what? But once you’ve sat in front of a number of different sales consultants, there’s only a few who listen and stand out from the rest. Think about your experiences thus far, especially if you’re ready to commit to your build. Or even if you’re not ready to commit. How has it really been?
Think about why you’re Googling Eden Brae Homes and researching reviews. You’re looking to build your dream home and make a large investment. This is a unique opportunity where you can make construction decisions before your home is even built – rare in most cases because you usually buy an existing dwelling.
I looked back on my old emails and Kevin was persistent – in a nice way of course. There were follow up courtesy emails, new promotions on offer including 12-month fixed pricing options and I do remember a few phone calls as well. At a minimum, it’s what you’d expect when you’re about to embark on a house build journey.
If you’re looking for a great Eden Brae Homes consultant to bounce ideas off, Kevin Huynh is your man. Find him, make an appointment and pepper him with your plans. He’s one that is hard to come by. Genuinely found him very detailed and meticulous, which is what we were impressed with and our go-to when the time was right.
And of course, we were interested in one of the Eden Brae Homes on display.
