Over Ripe Bananas? Here’s the Perfect Banana Jam Recipe

I stumbled across this Banana Jam recipe from The Framed Cooks. Thank you for the share as it’s now one of my favourites! I was on the hunt to try something different with over ripe bananas; I would usually create a banana smoothie, bake a loaf of banana bread, bake a banana cake, or simply dice them up and add them to my breakfast to prevent them from making their way to the bin. If you’re looking for something different, look no further and try making Banana Jam. What do you need? Ingredients 3 ripe bananas Lemon juice from one lemon 1/2 cup brown sugar 3 tablespoons butter 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence Banana Jam steps: Mash the bananas and put in a small saucepan with the lemon juice, sugar and butter. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat and then turn to low. Simmer for 20-minutes, stirring every five minutes or so. Turn off the heat and let it cool until it’s just cool enough to taste. Add the cinnamon …

Kmart Woven Rectangle Baskets

Does anyone enjoy shopping at Kmart as much as I do?  I come here every so often to stroll the aisles, looking for something to add to our home.  If you’re after simple styling or a touch of bling to brighten up a room, Kmart has a few beautiful surprises – which is what I love about coming here. As our home project continues, my next task was to add some baskets to our linen cupboard shelving.  I was looking for cheap and affordable, sea grass or woven basket storage – and stumbled across these from Kmart. If you’re looking for something specific, make sure you have the dimension requirements on hand – as for most things, there’s different sizes available; small, medium and large equivalent. A tape measure in your bag would also help too. This basket is fairly decent in size; 35cm x 16cm x 30cm, great for storing our multi-coloured hand towels and cleaning cloths.  They can be used to store other items as well, however keep in mind they are made …

Personalised Wooden Coasters

Looking for the perfect house-warming gift? Our friends recently purchased their first home and I wanted to find a gift which was memorable – and personalised – to mark this life milestone achievement. I stumbled across Wood Be Mine, owned by Lea Gillette.  She has great craftmanship featured on her marketplace – her creative flair and unique designs was exactly what I was looking for; modern fresh fonts, with a touch of vintage – the vibe I was channeling as the perfect match for my friends’ new home.  I could not find an Australian seller of similar quality to that of Lea’s works, so I thought I’d give her a go and have the items sent from the USA to Australia and boy, was I glad I did. What arrived was the perfect gift; handmade, personalised eco-friendly bamboo coasters with my friends’ details engraved on top. If time is on your side, these personalised house-warming gifts can be shipped to Australia, so do take a look at Lea’s marketplace. You won’t be disappointed.  Highly recommended etsy …

Meet: Breathe Magazine Australia

Breathe Magazine, I’m in love. I met you whilst binge reading other magazines within close proximity, waiting to be served in the supermarket queue. To be honest, I don’t usually buy magazines. I only really read them during my supermarket shop; or when I’m sitting in the hairdressers and catching-up on the latest Hollywood gossip; or simply downloading between friends as they’re more in-tuned with what’s going on in the world than I am. That said, I was actually driven to buy Breathe Magazine, would you believe it? At AU$12.95, it’s a slightly more expensive read than most, but once I started it, I subconsciously added it to the moving conveyor belt with the rest of my groceries… I wanted to continue reading where I left off. What’s so good about it you ask? Like the title says Breathe and make time for yourself. It’s full of thinking matters and inspiration rather than fueled with media hype. Breathe Magazine challenges your thoughts and let’s you think about day-to-day life and wellbeing. I took a photo …
