Dog Friendly Hotel Stay in Sydney: Ovolo Woolloomooloo

With an impromptu weekend getaway in town, what better way to indulge in a hotel stay that allows you to bring your furbaby too? In search for dog friendly accommodation in Sydney, I found Ovolo’s V.I.Pooch package at the Ovolo Woolloomooloo Boutique Hotel. Located on the wharf at Woolloomooloo, with both city and Sydney Harbour views throughout, expect your stay to be in a modern and luxurious, eclectic yet sophisticated, heritage-listed building, transformed to an artistic and funky hotel. It radiates plenty of personality, in a great waterfront location with a range of trendy restaurants at your doorstep. If you’re staying with a dog, I’d highly recommend booking the Deluxaroo King Room (or larger) because the extra space is definitely worthwhile. At 46m2, there’s plenty of room for you, your dog, a king-size bed, a comfy doggy bed, a generous sized bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe too. In addition to the pooch bed, Ovolo’s dog friendly V.I.Pooch package also includes use of two dog bowls, bottled water and a ‘doggy bag’ inclusive of complimentary Billy …

A Visit to Sydney Zoo, Bungarribee

When Western Sydney’s newest zoo recently opened in Bungarribee Super Park, I booked myself some tickets online to see the attraction first-hand – and I must say, after visiting, I’m very pleased with the development thus far. Located less than a 10-minute drive from Blacktown, along the Great Western Highway in Bungarribee, Sydney Zoo exhibits more than 2,000 Australian and international animals from around the world, with more to still arrive and settle in. In comparison to Wild Life Sydney Zoo and Taronga Zoo, this new zoo offers a safari-like experience, with expansive footpaths and cleverly designed barriers to guise the surrounding animal enclosures. Parking was fairly straight forward, I arrived early morning to secure a spot right in front. There are over 1,000 car spaces available in the main parking area, with the added option of an alternate car park overflow just 2km away, offering shuttle services to and from the zoo. For those wanting to bring strollers, wheelchairs or electric mobility scooters, Sydney Zoo is easy to get around. The footpaths are wide …

Four Points by Sheraton, Sydney Central Park

Looking for affordable Sydney accommodation within Sydney’s CBD? Look no further as you’ve found the Four Points by Sheraton, Sydney Central Park in Chippendale. What I love the most about this hotel is its location; less than a 15-minute walk from Sydney’s main Central Train Station – you cannot get lost in finding your way to this brand new hotel on 88 Broadway. Neighbouring the shopping centre of Central Park Mall and University of Technology Sydney, with bus transport also available at your doorstep, this hotel is well-positioned. It’s also less than a 3-minute walk to the nearby famed ‘Kensington Street’ which you’ll find is divided into four main districts; Spice Alley, The Old Rum Store, Eastside and Westside. This area encompasses more than 25 restaurants, eateries, galleries and shops to stroll amongst and choose to eat from. If you’re happy to commute on foot, this is a great base for you to explore Sydney’s city. There is a Starbucks literally a handful of doors down from the Four Points by Sheraton, otherwise there are …

Mercure Kooindah Waters, Central Coast Pet Friendly Stay

Less than a 90-minute drive from Sydney’s CBD, nestled between Sydney and Newcastle is the beautiful Central Coast. If you’re looking for pet friendly accommodation with the hotel perks included, do consider the Mercure Kooindah Waters Golf & Spa Resort (managed by Accor Hotels). Upon arrival, parking is fairly straight forward. It’s actually right in front of the room which makes things quite easy. Just keep in mind, this is a golfing resort, so parking can get filled by golfers during the day. The parking spots are not allocated per room, so if you head out, you might need to drive around in the parking area to find a new spot when you return. Inside our 1-bedroom apartment, it felt very ‘dog / cat’ like – there were photos of dogs and cats throughout. You have a decent sized kitchen including a full-size fridge with milk provided, stove, oven, microwave, crockery, cutlery, and a dishwasher. I did find it a little odd it only had two of everything, so you’d need to wash up immediately …

Dog Friendly Stay in Sydney’s South Coast, Gerringong

I’m always on the lookout for pet friendly accommodation in Sydney as I love bringing Kenji with me wherever I go. For the next road trip, we’re met with a beautiful dog friendly home stay at Werri Cosy on the south coast of NSW, in Gerringong. This is such a brilliant and affordable find, a private 2-bedroom home located in a quiet, suburban leafy street, less than a 500m walk from Werri Beach. I’m going to confess, this area is a little hilly on foot, so a walk to the beach might feel like a slightly longer walk than expected. The house itself has a fenced front and back yard. We mainly used the front yard for our dog, however both yards are accessible if required. At the front of the house, there’s a gated car park area which would only fit a small hatchback. That said, we preferred to keep our car on the street to give our dog more area to roam. The front of this home was such a peaceful spot to …
