Hills Professional Mobile Pet Grooming in Sydney’s north-west

I stumbled across Hills Professional Mobile Pet Grooming whilst on a drive home in Sydney’s north-west. Sitting in the passenger seat, I saw their mobile unit drive past and I quickly took down their details to remember to call them. We use to take our previous Japanese Spitz dog to the local pet store for regular dog washing and grooming services. He was generally calm and happy to be left in-store and didn’t mind being handled for his grooming routine. That said, unfortunately our boy passed away… but later that year, we re-homed another Japanese Spitz dog named Kenji. To say the least, it was a very different experience when Kenji came to being washed and groomed – he absolutely hated it. Kenji was less than a year old when we re-homed him, so it took some time to build his trust with us, let alone with anyone else. Our initial pet store grooming service was not as expected – the feedback was that Kenji frequently barked and would not comfortably sit still for long …

Off-Leash Dog Park, Gerringong Headland and Boat Harbour Reserve

This is my favourite dog park ever – what an epic view. Gerringong Headland is a beautiful spot to bring a picnic rug and your pooch, and I bet he or she will be more than ready to unclip and run wild for some park time fun. A local we briefly met at a cafe, recommended us to visit this off-leash dog reserve. And wow, wow and wow. I’m in love. It was honestly a highlight for me over our weekend getaway (maybe more for me than my pooch) as the view was breathtaking. I currently don’t live next to a beach in Sydney, so when you have glimpses of water views like this – dedicated to a dog park mind you – it is magnificent. Located at the southern end of Werri Beach and above the Boat Harbour ocean pool, access to the off-leash dog park at Gerringong Headland is walking distance from the main parking area of Boat Harbour Reserve. We actually weren’t too sure where to go initially, but we followed people …

Dog Bakery And Cakes Delivered in Sydney by Woof Gateaux

It’s time to celebrate my floofs’ birthday and whilst I don’t want to celebrate with an extravagant dog party, Kenji (my furbaby) has been such a great addition to our family since we re-homed him, that he deserves it! In search for a dog cake, I stumbled upon Woof Gateaux, a dog-friendly bakery, available for delivery throughout most of Sydney. And boy, what a selection to choose from. I thought it’d just be a handful of options, but no, there’s an extensive range of pet friendly cakes and baked goods to celebrate your pet special occasion. Imagine edible printed cookies, 5″ single and two-tier cakes, personalised cakes, pupcakes (similar to that of cupcakes – pet-friendly of course) or dohmuts (just like human doughnuts but for dogs). I’m drooling on my dog’s behalf, trying to make a quick decision for him, but I know he will absolutely love whatever I choose regardless of how big or small his cake is. So I opt for the 5″ Mutt cake which looked like the perfect size for my …

Bagnalls Beach Reserve Off-Leash Dog Beach, Nelson Bay

Centrally located in Nelson Bay, Bagnalls Beach Reserve is a great off-leash dog area for pooches to run wild and free. Ample car parking is available near the roundabout of Government, Sandy Point and Bagnalls Beach roads and adjoins the beach with a marked path, less than 100-metres to the water’s edge. This is the first time I’ve visited Bagnalls Beach Reserve – and wow, what an amazing stretch of coastline for dogs to experience. During our visit, this beach was not busy at all, the waves were fairly calm and if you’re lucky, you could have full 180-degree water views during your stay. Bagnalls Beach Reserve is a long and narrow stretch of sand with plenty of spots to place your towel down – you definitely aren’t wading through crowds of beachgoers enjoying the sun. It was a relaxing and calming, dog friendly, beach day out and I’d definitely visit here again next time I’m in the area. There are a number of shaded pockets too, so being only a stone’s throw away from …

Off-Leash Dog Park: Kurrajong Bark Park and Cafe BCM

En-route to the Blue Mountains, we stumbled across Kurrajong Bark Park – what an amazing find.  As the drive from Sydney can be lengthy (or even if you live near by), this is the perfect stop to let your pooch stretch their legs and have some fur-ball fun. Located on Old Bells Line of Road, the local vet adjoins this dog park with parking available right in front. There were quite a few people here, some of those that were weekend regulars, whilst others who had driven from nearby suburbs.  Everyone was friendly and welcoming, with pooch socialising in abundance and a quick break for all. The off-leash areas are divided into different sections, including a double gate upon entry; “Little Woofers” for the smaller dogs and a separate area for the bigger dogs.  By all means, we did see a few of the smaller dogs mixed in with the bigger dogs’ play area, so there’s no limitations – as long as you know what your pooch is comfortable with. If you’re visiting over a weekend, …
